CORE PROGRAM
A carefully-honed selection of some of the most exciting recent Spanish films from a variety of genres, reflecting the dynamism and creativity of Spanish cinema today.
This festival section is composed by the the newest releases in Spanish cinema, often celebrated at large, international festivals and now brought to the Netherlands for the festival.

spanish cinema without fear
Spanish Cinema Without Fear presents a selection of works that challenge tradition and embrace experimentation on the periphery of the Spanish film landscape.
This spirit is embodied by El Futuro Ya No Está Aquí: Celebrating 50 Years of El Desencanto, which opens the section. As a cornerstone of the programme, the film offers a historical anchor to reflect on enduring themes of disillusionment, societal fracture, and inherited failure: motifs that continue to resonate in contemporary Spanish cinema.
SCWF brings together Spanish filmmakers who are artistic, experimental, and avant-garde in nature. We are drawn to works that push beyond the boundaries of traditional narrative, engaging with personal and collective histories through bold and unconventional forms.

ASFF Cares: LGBTQIA+
To celebrate the heritage, culture and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex groups.
Raising awareness and advancing education on matters affecting the LGBTQIA+ community. ASFF does not want to be simply a cultural event where films about gender and sexuality are screened, but a place through which the political lives of LGBTQIA+ persons become intelligible.

At a moment of profound political and social transformation in Latin America, ASFF dedicates a special focus to its contemporary cinema.
This year, in a global context marked by political tensions, exclusionary rhetoric, and setbacks in fundamental rights, the Amsterdam Spanish Film Festival presents Latino Pride: a broad and committed look at contemporary Latin American cinema as a space for critical thought, memory, and cultural vitality.

Music on Screen
A transversal section that explores the dialogue between cinema and live music, transforming film screenings into immersive, performative experiences.

Threads from Spain
Celebrate 50 years of creativity, innovation, and cultural impact with the international premiere of El eco de otras voces, an intimate and multifaceted portrait of legendary Spanish fashion designer Adolfo Domínguez.

Spain Meets Portugal
Highlighting the inevitable synergy between Portugal and Spain, we organize an event that is deeply enrooted in the DNA of our festival: an event where Portugal and Spanish culture collide and discussions are stimulated about cultural differences, similarities and exchange between both countries.

Song of Songs
Last film from our beloved Ramón Gieling.
A struggle to preserve beauty and hope in a time that seems to despise both
