Before the festival takes over Amsterdam this April, there is a first moment. On Friday 13 March, we welcome you to Pathé Tuschinski for the official Amsterdam Spanish Film Festival 2026 Program Launch Event, the evening that marks the start of this year’s edition. This is where it begins.

Kick off the festival with a spectacular Opening Night celebrating Spanish cinema.

On Sunday, discover our new festival venue and join us for a vibrant Latin Brunch celebrating our Pride Latino section in collaboration with Latin Experience & Air Europa.

Continue celebrating the opening of the festival on Saturday with another special double screening. The evening begins with the sharp and brilliant comedy La Cena, followed by a Q&A with acclaimed actor Alberto San Juan, who will join the audience to share insights and answer questions about the film. The night continues with La Mujer de la Fila, presented in the presence of international superstar Natalia Oreiro, who will attend the Premiere and meet the audience.

Join us for an exclusive and celebratory Work in Progress of Ramón Gieling’s latest film, El Cantar de los Cantares / Song of Songs, honoring his remarkable cinematic career. The director will attend alongside key members of the team.

Join us for a special gala evening celebrating one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Spanish cinema. The second Honorary Gieling Award Gala takes place at the magnificent Pathé Tuschinski and features the Dutch premiere of Three Goodbyes.

Join us for the posthumous premiere of Emergency Exit, the final film starring the legendary Marisa Paredes. Directed by Luis Miñarro, who will attend the screening together with the film’s editor Diana Toucedo, this special event offers a unique opportunity to discover the film and hear first-hand insights into its creative process.

Celebrate 50 years of creativity, innovation, and cultural impact with the international premiere of El eco de otras voces, an intimate and multifaceted portrait of legendary Spanish fashion designer Adolfo Domínguez.

The film offers an intimate tribute to one of the most beloved figures of Spanish popular music, Antonio Flores.

Highlighting the deep cultural ties between Portugal and Spain, this special event celebrates the natural synergy between the two neighboring countries—an exchange that lies at the very heart of the festival’s spirit. The evening features the Amsterdam Premiere of Una Quinta Portuguesa by Avelina Prat, a moving Spanish–Portuguese co-production starring Manolo Solo and internationally acclaimed actress Maria de Medeiros, who will join the audience for a special Q&A after the screening. Following the premiere, we invite you to stay and celebrate the closing moments of this festival edition with Spanish drinks and tapas, sharing a final gathering with filmmakers, guests, and audiences. Cinema, conversation, and the spirit of the Iberian Peninsula come together for a memorable closing evening.
