Ami is a mixed-race Indigenous producer with roots in Ryukyu, Okinawa, a culture whose Indigenous identity continues to await formal recognition by the Japanese government. As Founder of Jondo Productions, she brings over 20 years of deep immersion in

At Jondo Productions, Ami produces documentaries that go beyond observation, creating work that catalyzes genuine cultural understanding and transformation. Her most recent film, Farruquito: A Flamenco Dynasty ("Serás Farruquito"), is currently screening at international festivals worldwide throughout 2025–2026, bringing the world of Spain's most revered Romani flamenco family to global audiences.

Her practice is rooted in a belief that the most enduring art forms are those that carry the weight of a community's story. Flamenco speaks through the Roma narrative; Ryukyu music preserves Indigenous voices that deserve a place on the world stage. These parallel traditions, both born of deep storytelling and forged in survival, form the through-line of her creative vision.

Ami approaches every collaboration the way she approaches filmmaking: with curiosity, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to connecting people across cultures. She works with artists and communities, never at them.
