Javier Rebollo

Javier Rebollo writes, directs, and produces short and feature films, including Lo que sé de Lola (2006), La mujer sin piano (2009), and El muerto y ser feliz (2013), as well as works by other filmmakers, such as Para la guerra (2018) and CAMIONERO by Francisco Marise, currently in the filming phase in Argentina, a film he has written. He has won the FIPRESCI prize from international critics three times at the San Sebastián, London, and Montevideo film festivals; the Silver Shell for Best Director at the San Sebastián International Film Festival; the Best Film Award at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles (USA); and twice the Best Film Award in Nantes and Toulouse (France), as well as in Seoul (South Korea).

He supports the films and works of others in schools and universities around the world. He is a lecturer and performer.

His film En la alcoba del sultán (2024), premiered at the International Film Week of Valladolid (SEMINCI), has been nominated for the FEROZ Award for Best Film and has won the Vida en Sombras Award at Días de Cine on TVE. It has been selected as one of the Best Films of the Year by El Cultural from El Mundo, the SER radio station, and Fotogramas magazine, among others. It will soon participate in the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival (BAFICI) in Argentina, the Montevideo International Film Festival in Uruguay, and the Jeonju International Film Festival in South Korea, among others.

He is about to release his new feature film Dans la chambre du Sultan with Pilar López de Ayala and Félix Moati.

His film, En la alcoba del sultán, will have its Dutch premiere at this year’s edition of ASFF.
