He is a playwright, screenwriter, and director. As a film screenwriter, he has co-written with Alberto Rodríguez the screenplays for the feature films 7 Virgins, After, Grupo 7, Marshland (La isla mínima), Smoke & Mirrors (El hombre de las mil caras), Modelo 77, and Los Tigres. He also co-wrote the feature film Ali with Paco Baños; Toro with Fernando Navarro; and collaborated on the screenplays for Yo, mi mujer y mi mujer muerta and Las gentiles, directed by Santi Amodeo.

In 2015, he won the Goya Award for Best Original Screenplay for Marshland (La isla mínima), and in 2016 the Goya Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Smoke & Mirrors (El hombre de las mil caras). He has also received numerous ASECAN awards, the Medal from the Spanish Screenwriters’ Guild on two occasions, the Carmen Award, and the Ricardo Franco Award at the Málaga Film Festival in recognition of his career.

For television, he wrote the series La peste for Movistar+, serving as creative director on its second season, as well as Apagón, also for Movistar+. He was the creator, director, and showrunner of the series El hijo zurdo, which won the award for Best Miniseries at the prestigious Canneseries festival.

Recently, he founded the production company Las Afueras Films, which produced the documentary Ellas en la ciudad, directed by Reyes Gallegos. He wrote the miniseries Anatomía de un instante for Movistar+ and co-wrote and directed the film Golpes for Vaca Films.
