Argentinean directorial duo Gaston Duprat and Mariano Cohn’s latest film combines comedy, drama and suspense in a unique way.
El ciudadano ilustre stars Oscar Martinez (Paulina and Relatos salvajes) as a nobel winning author leaving behind Barcelona to return to Salas, his birth village, to accept an illustrious prize.
Divided into five chapters, the film follows Martinez on his comedic, artistic and heartfelt trip into Argentina that explores fame, family and fatality. This ferocious film about the miseries of human conditions was nominated eight times for this years’ Argentina Academy Awards.
