About the film

Spanish director Pablo Berger returns with this animated, dialogue-free story about the miracle of true friendship between a dog and a robot.

DOG lives in Manhattan and he’s tired of being alone. One day he decides to build himself a robot, a companion. Their friendship blossoms, until they become inseparable, to the rhythm of 80’s NYC. One summer night, DOG, with great sadness, is forced to abandon ROBOT at the beach. Will they ever meet again?

ROBOT DREAMS is a unique and sweet film full of humour, friendship and nostalgic pop culture. Set in 1980s New York, the friendship between Dog and Robot is put to the test in this heartwarming adventure. For young and old alike. The film was nominated for the Oscar Best Animated Film.

Suitable for every family member, the beauty of this jewel of a film is its reminder of the good fortune of having a caring pal, even if it’s only for a brief time.

“Spanish director Pablo Berger delivers a brightly colored character study about a dog and a robot — and what it means when a relationship ends.”
