After losing her daughter Mary in an accident, Carmen receives a letter in which finally her daughter is granted the adoption of a Vietnamese girl, Thi Mai.
With her two best friends, Elvira and Rosa, who have never left Spain, decides to travel to Vietnam to complete the adoption process. Once there, their inexperience, the culture shock, the bureaucratic labyrinths and the peculiarities of each of these three women make the journey in a succession of mistakes, absurd situations and delusional decisions.
