In Madrid’s Chueca area, we witness a vivid love story of human contradiction as LGBTQIA+ characters step into the roles of their adversaries.
Chueca in central Madrid is an oasis of freedom for the LGTBQIA+ community. But recently, hate speech from politicians has placed it under scrutiny. The film contains a vibrant cast; trans people, drag queens, young married lesbians, refugees, and a politician proclaiming a heterosexual-free society. At its core is Radio Chueca Libertaria, broadcasting from the Berkana Bookstore about local struggles and global LGBTQIA+ challenges. In intense scenes, characters step into the roles of their adversaries.
Followed by a Q& A with director Ramón Gieling.
