Hugo 24

Starring Aron Piper, one of Spain’s most internationally recognized young actors, the film captures with urgency and sensitivity the struggles of a generation facing precarity, rising living costs, and the emotional weight of growing up in uncertain times. Drawing on a stark
Hugo is a 23-year-old who hasn’t quite matured yet. He’s only just beginning to understand what adulthood really means, and how to face it. On the day of his 24th birthday, he finds himself in a difficult situation: he’s unemployed, but has a promising interview at a real estate agency, a job he dreams of because it would allow him to wear a suit, something that reminds him of his father.
Hugo carries a deep fear of abandonment. His father left years ago and now has another family; his mother is in prison, and he is about to visit her. Meanwhile, his girlfriend is returning to her university residence after the summer, and he feels like she too is slipping away from his life.
Reality hits hard when his landlord threatens to evict him and his sister Cris within 24 hours if they don’t pay the rent. What follows is a race against time: with the help of his best friend Manu, Hugo must find a way to gather the money and avoid losing his home.
Set over the course of a single day, these 24 hours become a powerful coming-of-age journey, one that forces Hugo to confront the responsibilities he has long avoided.
