Amsterdam Spanish Film Festival got even bigger in its 2nd edition: 18 screenings, 13 premieres, 8 short films, first row actors and directors, free Spanish food and wine and much more completed the 6-day experience offered by the 2016 edition of the festival.

After a successful first edition, Amsterdam Spanish Film Festival (ASFF) came back for its 2nd one with yet another extraordinary line-up of recent Spanish-language films. Organised by Sin Fin Cinema and held from 25 to 30 May in its already classic venues, cinemas Tuschinski and Eye, ASFF connected Dutch audiences to the compelling variety of Spanish cinema in all its richness. A selection of films from varying genres: from engaging thrillers to entertaining comedies; from moving dramas and action movies to documentaries and shorts.
ASFF doubled its seats offer in comparison to its 1st edition, allowing almost 10.000 spectators to attend 18 screenings, 13 of which premiered in The Netherlands. More than 1600 hours of cinema in the form of 12 long films and 2 documentaries which were distribued in the diverse sections: Core programme, Latin Focus, Vermouth Time and Treasures from the past, plus a selection of some of the most artistic and experimental short films of 2015/16 included in the fifth section, Spanish Cinema Without Fear.
We had plenty of great moments in the 2016! Creating together some special memories, which already belong to our history, like the live performance of Inma Cuesta singing “La Tarara” or Asier Etxeandía singing too.
We had some other wonderful guests like prestigious filmmakers Cesc Gay presenting ‘Truman’, Julio Medem with his latest ‘ma ma’, Dani de la Torre, director of ‘El desconocido’ and Inés París, presenting ‘La noche que mi madre mató a mi padre’ with actor Fele Martínez. Other films that formed the programme were ‘La novia’ with Inma Cuesta, ‘La Puerta Abierta’ with Marina Seresesky and Asier Atxeandia, ‘Nadie quiere la noche’, ‘A cambio de nada’ and much more!
